Royal Irish Constabulary Records
Staff records of the Royal Irish Constabulary which may give details of name, age, rank, warrant number, religious affiliation, native county, trade and dates of appointment and removal are available from about 1836 to 1922.
The staff records sometimes include superannuations awarded which contain name, period of service, amount granted and nature of injury leading to superannuation. The Dublin Castle Records (CO 904) and Irish Office Records (CO 906) contain information about the work and administration of the RIC, but these latter records are less likely to contain information of value to family historians and are often subjected to a 75 or 100 year closure. In 1922, the RIC was disbanded.
For more information read the various leaflets at the National Archives web site.
Kindest regards
Bob
