We also undertake searches for the trial records of prisoners. The "After Trial Calendars of Prisoners" give details of the crime, the defendant's age, his sentence and his degree of literacy. The actual trial records can then be much more detailed, depending upon the severity of the crime. There are also Male and Female Licences for certain periods. If the release date is known, or can be ascertained, and the licence is in place then these are excellent records as they are usually full of genealogical information. If the date and place of the trial is known then a search can usually be completed in minimum time, whereas without a date it will take longer.
