London Repositories
Libraries, Museums and Repositories, which we visit regularly in London apart from the
National Archives at Kew.

Library Records of the Honourable East India Company and later of the Government of India.
We visit this collection, (now part of the British Library), several times a month.
The British Library The repository of
the nation's books located at St Pancras, with an online bookshop. The
British Library also aims to acquire all newspapers published in the United Kingdom and in the
Republic of Ireland. The newspaper collection has issues of some
editions from as early as 1603, which are archived at the facility at Colindale
in North London.
The Guildhall and the London Metropolitan Archives The
home of the Corporation of London and an extraordinary range of archives including many sources for family history.

High Holborn, this is the repository for all Wills
proved in England & Wales after 1858, (for earlier Wills - see National Archives descriptions for Wills and Administrations)
The National Army Museum is
the British Army's own museum and is located in Chelsea. It holds operational records from the Battle of Agincourt to
peacekeeping duties in the 21st century.
The Imperial War Museum has sites at Duxford and Trafford as well
as the Cabinet War Rooms and HMS Belfast in London. The repository, which we visit regularly, is situated in
Lambeth Road, south east London.
The National Maritime Museum located on the
famous meridian line at Greenwich. The public galleries display a thematically arranged selection but other
records and facilities are available to researchers and we visit this museum
regularly.
